Open this page on the Mac you want to protect. You'll download a small installer, follow a short on-screen wizard, then scan a QR code from your iPhone to finish setup.
Download started, check your Downloads folder. If nothing happens, click the button above.
macOS will walk you through the installer. You'll need your Mac admin password.
Kidfence will explain each step. You'll approve a configuration profile (the same kind schools use), then make your child's account a standard (non-admin) account.
Open the Kidfence app on your iPhone, that's where you'll manage rules from now on. Don't have the iPhone app yet?
Click the Download for Mac button above. If your browser blocks downloads from this site, you can also visit /downloads/Kidfence.pkg directly.
If you arrived here on your iPhone by mistake, that's expected. The iPhone link is just a handoff. Open this same URL in a browser on your child's Mac.
Yes. The installer is signed with Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS verifies it hasn't been tampered with. The configuration profile you approve gives Kidfence the OS-level access it needs to enforce rules a child can't simply turn off.
Your child's web activity, messages, and screen content are never sent to our servers, everything that matters is end-to-end encrypted between the Mac and your iPhone.
From the Kidfence menu bar item on your child's Mac, choose Uninstall Kidfence. You'll need the parent admin password. The configuration profile can also be removed manually in System Settings → General → Device Management.
